He called at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon to say that the SBA was withdrawing its guarantee of the loan and that the deal was dead. I lost it. I cried uncontrollably. I got mad. I was in disbelief. At that point, Booker felt as if there was nothing else that she could do, so she drove home. There she came across a business card belonging to the person who would save the deal.

But another six months passed before the ribbon could be cut. On January 31, 1997, the grand opening of the 200-seat clone, with its high ceilings and art deco mezzanine, was held. The festivities were grand and the turnout was huge. But Kenneth says the food was awful.
